Summary

Each month, over the first eight months of fiscal 2010, an average of approximately 550 new Baltimore City cases were received by Maryland Department of Juvenile Services intake.

An overview of the possible outcomes for these young people is the subject of the concluding event in our Juvenile Justice series.

Our speakers include The Honorable Edward R.K. Hargadon, Judge In-Charge, Juvenile Division,  who  has a long-term commitment to improving procedures and outcomes for juveniles in the court system;  a Department of Juvenile Services representative, who will provide an overview of what alternative paths may be taken between intake of a juvenile and a court adjudicatory hearing; and Dr. Lauren Abramson, Founder and Executive Director of Community Conferencing Center, whose program allows a juvenile offender and the victim a voice in resolving an incident and may be an alternative to formal court proceedings.
