BioTechnical Institute of Maryland General Operations

The BioTechnical Institute of Maryland provides tuition-free science industry training and placement for under-or-unemployed women and men with high school diplomas. It strives to provide a critically needed, prepared workforce to promote growth of the area’s biotechnical industry. BTI addresses barriers to employment by offering its participants management, legal assistance, and support services.

Training, which takes six months, begins with a six-week program called BioStart. Upon completion, students begin the Lab Associates program to continue their study in the work arena. BTI maintains strong relationships with local medical and academic institutions to assist in job placement, and help promote job growth of the area's biotechnical industry.

The Baltimore Women’s Giving Circle enabled BTI to train an additional 10 women, all single custodian mothers, living in Baltimore City.
