Martha's Place

Martha's Place comprises 4 renovated row houses providing long-term housing for women in recovery from addiction. MP can house 20 women, predominantly African-American, many over 40, who stay 1-2 years. The women are provided a structured recovery program to help them maintain sobriety and develop life-skills vital for independent living. The program includes unemployment assistance, counseling, case management and financial planning. Clients attend drug treatment and once employed they pay rent and save towards their financial independence. Graduates also become Martha's Angels and, as role models for current residents, sponsor women in their recovery. While national recovery rates from drug addition are commonly listed at a 30% success rate, Martha's Place has operated its long-term Single Room Occupancy program with a successful recovery rate of 75% since opening in 2005.

BWGC funds will be used for general operations.
