Anti-Sex Trafficking Program-Employment Readiness Training
TurnAround, Inc. (TA) received a two-year $50,000 grant to support a job readiness program for victims of sex-trafficking. TA is the only Baltimore area organization to serve this community of women. TA selected clients who were ready to attend a program for 3 weeks, 5 days a week, at which they learned skills such as self-assessment for job search, career exploration, resume and goal development, and interviewing skills. Participants were paid a weekly stipend to help with expenses and given bus passes if needed. The grant funding also covered educational materials that aided in possible employment and limited clothing allowance needed for the clients to be successful in the job market. TA also worked to develop internships for the clients leading to employment. The program helped clients learn trust, improve their self-respect, take control of their earnings and gain skills to re-enter society.
