Project D.R.E.A.M.

To help support its services to Baltimore City mothers aged 12 to 21 years. Dreamgirls aims to help these young women graduate from high school, gain parenting skills, attend college or obtain jobs, and become self-sufficient members of their community. While only 40 percent of pregnant teenagers typically complete high school, 19 of 20 young mothers in the program to date have done so. All have jobs, and five also are continuing their education. Founded by a group of social workers in 2008, Dreamgirls holds an annual teen conference, a summer retreat, block parties, and other community events that explore parenting, pregnancy prevention, school registration, job readiness, employment searches, domestic violence, fostering healthy relationships, and other issues.
