To help foster reading in children in grades K-5 who are reading below grade level. Reading Partners is a national, evidence-based program that bolsters reading skills through data-informed, personalized tutoring by a cadre of trained volunteers, who work with the children one-on-one. Reading Partners operates in nine Baltimore inner city schools serving 450 low-income students. It plans to expand to 16 schools next year. Reading Partners also provides training and workshops for parents on best practices for encouraging reading at home.
