2027 Grant Application
The application is an opportunity for you to tell us your story. As you complete your application, please emphasize how your organization’s work aligns with the Mission and Vision of the BWGC.
The BWGC Mission and Vision are broad and inclusive to encourage impactful and innovative grant making. The Circle focuses on applicants that serve adult women and adolescent girls aged 12-18. If the applicant serves both women and men, the Circle gives priority to those which serve at least 75% women. The Circle also accepts applications from organizations serving children aged 11 and under.
The BWGC believes that an organization's impact is maximized when one or more of the following are present:
- The organization actively involves the individuals being served in program development, delivery, and/or governance.
- The organization's leadership has firsthand experience with the issues it aims to address.
- The organization's leadership actively engages residents in the organization's geographic service area who have firsthand experience with the issues addressed by the organization.
We encourage applicants to highlight how their organization incorporates these practices in their work; however, this is not a prerequisite for receiving a grant.
Eligibility Requirements to Apply for a BWGC Grant
Here are the requirements to apply for a BWGC grant:
IRS Letter of Determination: To be considered for a grant, applicants must have their own 501(c)(3) IRS Letter of Determination or use a fiscal sponsor that has a 501(c)(3) IRS Letter of Determination or operate as a chapter or branch under a national or state organization that has a 501(c)(3) IRS Letter of Determination. The IRS letter must classify the organization as a public charity–not a private foundation.
Organizational Criteria
In addition, applicants must answer NO to the following two questions to be considered for a BWGC grant in 2027:
- Was your organization awarded a BWGC grant in 2026?
- Does your organization require program participants to adhere to a particular religion or to attend religious services as part of your program offerings?
If your answer is YES to either of these two questions, your organization does not currently meet the eligibility criteria for receiving a grant.
Ineligible Expenses
The primary focus of a BWGC grant is to support direct service to women and their families. Grant funds cannot be used for any of the following:
- Organizational endowments
- Capital improvements
- Fixtures, furniture and equipment, except for items that directly benefit participants you serve
- Event tickets or event sponsorships
- Deficit reduction for the organization
- Annual drives or annual giving campaigns
- Political activities or Political Action Committees (PACs)
If your grant request includes any of these ineligible expenses, your application will not be considered for funding. You are welcome to apply once your proposed use of funds meets BWGC's funding requirements.
