Immigrant Women to the Workforce Initiative

The project involves preparing 25 applications for employment authorization documents (EADS) which are required to get a State-issued ID, driver’s license, Social Security number and ACA health care. Without the protection that comes from the EAD and formal employment, these women may be forced to work illegally in domestic service, agriculture, sweatshops or the sex industry. IRC-BAL staff will also prepare 25 applications for waiver of the $420 EAD fee and provide accurate information on the right to work and how to apply for safety-net benefits.

BWGC funds will support operating expenses.
